Local Las Vegas Medicare Agent Ken Farrell Is Nominated for Best of Las Vegas
I’m excited and honored to share some great news:
I’ve been nominated for Insurance Agent in the 2026 Best of Las Vegas competition!
As a local Medicare insurance agent in Las Vegas, this nomination means a great deal to me.
I’ve built my business around helping people understand Medicare, compare their options and make informed decisions about their healthcare coverage.
But just as important, I’ve tried to build something increasingly difficult to find:
A relationship with a local insurance agent who is actually there when you need help.
I’m incredibly grateful to my clients, their families, the people who have referred friends and neighbors to me, our healthcare and community partners, and everyone throughout Las Vegas and Henderson who has supported me and Las Vegas Medicare.
And now I’m asking for your help.

Why This Best of Las Vegas Nomination Means So Much to Me
There are a lot of insurance agents.
There are also national call centers, television advertisements, direct-mail solicitations and websites competing for the attention of Medicare beneficiaries every day.
I’ve deliberately tried to build my Medicare business differently.
My philosophy isn’t:
Sell first. Explain later.
It’s the opposite:
Listen first. Educate. Explain. Then help the client make an informed decision.
That distinction is important to me.
Medicare decisions can affect which doctors you see, where you receive care, what you pay for prescriptions and potentially thousands of dollars in healthcare expenses.
People deserve more than a quick sales pitch.
They deserve to understand what they’re choosing.
That’s the type of Medicare insurance agent I’ve worked to become, and that’s why being nominated for 2026 Best of Las Vegas – Insurance Agent is especially meaningful.
What Makes Ken Farrell and Las Vegas Medicare Different?
If you’ve found this page because you’re searching for a Medicare agent in Las Vegas, you may be wondering what actually separates one Medicare insurance agent from another.
Here are some of the things I believe make my approach different.
1. I’m a Local Las Vegas Medicare Agent
Medicare is a federal program, but choosing Medicare coverage can be surprisingly local.
Provider networks matter.
Hospitals matter.
Medical groups matter.
Prescription formularies matter.
And the plans available to someone living in Las Vegas can be very different from those available elsewhere.
I work with Medicare beneficiaries throughout Las Vegas, Henderson and the surrounding Las Vegas Valley.
I’m not simply a voice in a national call center.
I live and work in the community I serve.
I participate in local community and retail events.
I interact with local healthcare organizations and providers.
And when my clients need Medicare help, they know who their agent is.
They can call me.
That local relationship is an important part of the service I provide.
2. I’m an Independent Medicare Insurance Agent
Another important difference is independence.
As an independent Medicare insurance agent, I can help clients understand and compare available Medicare options from multiple insurance companies rather than representing only one carrier.
Why does that matter?
Because there isn’t one Medicare plan that’s best for everybody.
Two people living next door to each other can have completely different healthcare needs.
One may take several prescription medications.
The other may take none.
One may have specialists they absolutely want to keep.
Another may prioritize flexibility when traveling.
One person may prefer the structure of an HMO.
Another may prefer a PPO.
Someone else may decide Original Medicare combined with Medicare Supplement coverage better fits their circumstances.
Medicare isn’t one-size-fits-all.
That’s why I don’t believe a Medicare conversation should begin with a particular insurance company or plan.
It should begin with you.
3. I Ask Questions Before Talking About Plans
Before comparing Medicare coverage, I want to understand what’s important to the person sitting across from me.
That can include questions such as:
- Who are your doctors and specialists?
- Which hospitals or healthcare systems do you prefer?
- What prescription medications do you take?
- Do you travel frequently?
- Are you comfortable receiving care within a provider network?
- What’s most important to you about your healthcare coverage?
- Are you turning 65?
- Are you retiring?
- Are you planning to continue working past age 65?
- Are you moving to Las Vegas or Nevada?
- Are you already on Medicare and reviewing your current coverage?
Those answers help shape the conversation.
My goal isn’t to find a person for a plan.
It’s to help find appropriate coverage options for the person.
4. Education Comes Before Enrollment
Medicare has its own language.
Original Medicare.
Medicare Advantage.
Medicare Supplement.
Medigap.
Part D.
HMO.
PPO.
Provider networks.
Drug formularies.
Copays and coinsurance.
Enrollment periods.
For someone approaching Medicare for the first time, it can feel like learning an entirely new vocabulary.
That’s before trying to understand all the advertisements arriving in the mail and appearing on television.
One of the most important parts of my job is simply making Medicare easier to understand.
I regularly help people answer questions such as:
- What’s the difference between Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage?
- Medicare Advantage or Medicare Supplement—which should I consider?
- What’s the difference between an HMO and PPO?
- Do I need Medicare Part D?
- Will my doctors accept the plan?
- Are my medications covered?
- What happens if I travel?
- When should I enroll in Medicare?
- Do I need Medicare if I’m still working at 65?
- What happens when I retire and lose employer coverage?
- Can I change my Medicare plan?
- What happens if I move to Nevada?
- What can I change during the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period?
Sometimes the most valuable thing I provide isn’t an insurance product.
It’s a clear answer to a confusing Medicare question.
5. I Help People Who Are Turning 65 in Las Vegas
One of the most common reasons people contact me is because they’re approaching their 65th birthday.
And the questions start quickly.
When do I enroll in Medicare?
Do I need both Part A and Part B?
What happens to my employer insurance?
What if my spouse isn’t 65 yet?
Do I need Part D if I don’t take prescriptions?
Should I choose Medicare Advantage or a Medicare Supplement?
What happens if I’m contributing to an HSA?
Turning 65 doesn’t need to become a stressful Medicare research project.
I can help explain the timeline, identify the questions you should be asking and walk you through the Medicare insurance options available to you.
If you’re approaching 65 and searching for a Medicare agent in Las Vegas, you don’t have to figure everything out alone.
6. Still Working at 65? You May Have Different Decisions to Make
Turning 65 doesn’t automatically mean everyone should leave employer coverage.
This is an area where personalized guidance becomes especially important.
Depending on your employer coverage and circumstances, you may have different decisions to make regarding Medicare Part A, Part B, prescription coverage and when to transition away from employer insurance.
The correct answer isn’t automatically:
“You’re 65. Enroll in everything.”
I regularly help people who are still working at age 65 understand their options and the questions they should ask before making changes to their coverage.
7. Moving to Las Vegas? Medicare Can Work Differently Here
Las Vegas continues to attract retirees and new residents from across the country.
If you’re moving to Nevada with Medicare, your coverage may need attention—particularly if you’re enrolled in a Medicare Advantage or prescription drug plan.
Networks and plan availability vary by location.
A plan that worked well where you previously lived may not be available or appropriate after moving to Las Vegas.
As a local Las Vegas Medicare insurance agent, I can help new Nevada residents understand their local Medicare options and navigate the transition.
8. My Service Doesn’t End After You Enroll
This is one of the biggest differences I want clients to experience.
I don’t want the relationship to end when the application is submitted.
Plans change.
Doctors change.
Prescriptions change.
Healthcare needs change.
And Medicare coverage can change from year to year.
I want my clients to know they have a local Medicare resource they can contact when questions come up.
That could be next month.
During the next Annual Enrollment Period.
Or years from now.
Many of my clients eventually introduce me to their spouses, friends, neighbors and family members.
Those referrals mean a great deal to me because they’re an indication that someone trusted the service they received enough to recommend me to someone they care about.
9. Medicare Help Without an Additional Agent Fee
People sometimes ask:
“How much does it cost to work with you?”
There is generally no additional cost to the consumer for my Medicare insurance agent services when enrolling through me.
Licensed insurance agents may be compensated by insurance companies when eligible enrollments occur, subject to applicable Medicare rules.
That allows consumers to receive personalized help understanding and comparing Medicare options without paying me an additional consulting fee for that assistance.
So if you’re confused about Medicare, there’s no reason you have to make these decisions entirely on your own.
Who Do I Help?
My clients come to me at many different stages of Medicare.
I frequently work with people who are:
Turning 65 and enrolling in Medicare for the first time
Retiring and leaving employer health insurance
Still working after age 65
Moving to Las Vegas or Henderson
Already enrolled in Medicare and reviewing their coverage
Comparing Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement options
Trying to understand Medicare Part D
Looking for coverage that includes their doctors and prescriptions
Helping a spouse, parent or family member navigate Medicare
Whatever brings someone to me, my goal remains the same:
Help them understand their options so they can make an informed decision.
